PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A woman has been convicted of killing her husband in Prescott nearly 14 years ago.

Prosecutors say a Yavapai County jury returned a guilty verdict for first-degree murder against 65-year-old Jane Carpenter.

They say 71-year-old retired commercial artist Brent Carpenter was found stabbed and beaten to death in the couple’s shared home in the Yavapai Hills development on June 4, 2002.

The case then went cold for years before Prescott police investigators worked with Indiana state police in 2012 to locate Jane Carpenter and charge her with the murder.

She’s scheduled to be sentenced on March 24 in Yavapai County Superior Court.
