LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has selected a former wildfire officer and state trooper as its new director.

Jeff Crow will replace Mike Knoedl, who is retiring after 31 years at Game and Fish. Crow has been the agency’s chief of staff and will take over as director July 1.

At their meeting Thursday, commissioners spoke highly of all candidates brought in for interviews and said the agency is in good hands with Crow.

Crow was a wildlife officer from 1986 to 1996, then went to the Arkansas State Police until retiring in 2011. He returned to the commission in 2012 as colonel of the enforcement division, became deputy director in 2013 and chief of staff in 2014.
