VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) - Northern California authorities say a baby perished in an overnight apartment fire that has displaced a dozen residents.

Vallejo Fire public information officer Danny Gutierrez says nobody else was killed in the three-alarm fire that started late Thursday.

He had no details on the age or gender of the infant. Investigators are determining what prompted the blaze.

KPIX reports (https://cbsloc.al/1PIfH8B ) firefighters received the first emergency calls at 11:30 p.m. The fire was contained two hours later.

Authorities say the fire started in one of the apartment units, which was destroyed.

Vallejo is a city about 30 miles northeast of San Francisco.
