POWDERSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The driver of a pickup truck is dead after his vehicle was hit by a motorist being chased by a Greenville County sheriff’s deputy.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman tells local media outlets that the wreck happened about 4:30 a.m. Thursday in Powdersville.

Boseman says a deputy was chasing a car along state Highway 153 when the car hit a pickup truck as it was turning onto state Highway 81.

The driver of the pickup truck was killed while the driver of the car fleeing the deputy was hospitalized.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
