LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles authorities say crews who knocked down a garage fire discovered a marijuana grow operation with an estimated 200 plants.

The Fire Department says the blaze in the Tujunga area was extinguished in less than an hour early Thursday. No injuries are reported.

The pot plants were found as firefighters were putting out the flames. Police Sgt. Frank Alfrez says about 200 plants with grow lights were discovered in the garage and inside the adjacent house.

Alfrez says there have been no arrests since nobody was at the home at the time of the fire.

City News Service says narcotics detectives are trying to determine who owns the property.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but Alfrez says it may have been an electrical issue.
