ATLANTA (AP) - A former manager of a hair care products company in Georgia has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison for embezzling more than $3.3 million.

U.S. Attorney John Horn said Thursday that 54-year-old Veria Fields was sentenced on charges of mail fraud relating to a theft from her former employer. Fields was an accounts receivable manager for Bronner Bros. Inc. in Marietta.

Horn says Fields offered customers unauthorized discounts of five to 15 percent in exchange for customers making account payments to her in cash. Fields pocketed the cash for herself.

Fields concealed the discounts to allocate portions of the payments from other costumers to cover the shortfalls. She wrote off portions of the bills owed by the customers.

Fields pleaded guilty and was convicted last year.
