PHOENIX (AP) - The House has passed a measure reforming state law on potlucks and noncommercial social events.

State Health laws regulate circumstances where people can serve food to protect against foodborne illnesses. A quirk in the law unintentionally made it illegal for potlucks to take place outside the workplace.

Rep. Kelly Townsend of Mesa sponsored a bill that would allow potlucks anywhere people want to have them.

Townsend began drafting the measure following a complaint about potlucks being held in Apache Junction despite the law. Pinal County put a stop to the party.

The House unanimously passed House Bill 2341 on Thursday. It now moves to the Senate.
