WINDSOR, Maine (AP) - Maine state police say a standoff with an armed man in the town of Windsor ended with no injuries.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the man was taken into custody just before midnight Thursday, about five hours after police responded to reports of a man who was armed and despondent.

The 36-year-old man surrendered after talking to negotiators. Police did not identify the man, who was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for evaluation.

The man was in an apartment building Wednesday evening across Route 32 from Hussey’s General Store.

Four people inside the apartment left after troopers arrived, and several adjoining apartments were evacuated during the standoff.
