HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama man has been convicted of capital murder in the death of his 91-year-old neighbor.

Multiple news outlets report John Clayton Owens was found guilty of capital murder Thursday in the August 2011 strangulation of Doris Richardson.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1RaqOrf) jurors were shown video of the woman’s ransacked home and footage of Richardson’s body on her bed. Prosecutors said Richardson typically removed her hearing aids before bed and likely woke up to find a burglar in her home.

Defense attorneys argued that no DNA or fingerprints linked Owens to the crime scene. However, a man testified that Owens gave him two guns that were stolen from Richardson’s home in exchange for tattoo work.

Owens is expected to be sentenced Thursday afternoon in Madison County Circuit Court.
