ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A male was shot and killed Thursday at a home in southwest Anchorage and police are investigating the incident as a possible attempted home invasion.

Anchorage police just after 4:30 a.m. took a report of a home invasion in a neighborhood about a half mile east of Dimond High School.

Police were told someone in the home had fired shots at one of the home invaders.

Police reached the home on Orchard Place and found a male with gunshot wounds outside the home. Medics pronounced him dead.

Police have not released the name or age of the person killed or who may have shot him.
