BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his 3-year-old daughter and her mother.

The Lakeland Ledger (https://goo.gl/ZLlUc3) reports that a Polk County judge sentenced 38-year-old Lester Ross on Thursday. He was convicted in November of first-degree murder and aggravated manslaughter. He had faced a possible death sentence.

Authorities discovered the bodies of Ross’ daughter, MaSarah Ross, and the girl’s mother, Ronkeya Holmes, buried in a Winter Haven grove in December 2010. Ross was arrested about two years later, following an intense investigation.

Ross’ ex-wife, Sharon Evans, testified that she drove Ross to bury the bodies in 2009 because she feared her husband would kill her if she talked to police.
