BOHEMIA, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 49-year-old student has been arrested after a water bottle he was handling exploded outside a Long Island career school.

According to Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1oqR4E2 ), Suffolk County police say Eugene Iannotta was handling plastic bottles in the parking lot of the Branford Hall Career Institute in Bohemia on Wednesday. Police say at least one of the bottles contained a nontoxic chemical mixture that caused it to become pressurized and explode.

A police robot was used to inspect the suspicious object.

The Holbrook resident is charged with illegally possessing a noxious material. He couldn’t immediately be reached for comment and it wasn’t clear if he has an attorney.

Police say Iannotta will be arraigned at later date.
