NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a restaurant worker has been hospitalized after he was slashed in the face in New York City.

Police say the slashing happened Wednesday night at or near the Silver Spurs Restaurant in Greenwich Village. Police say the slashing apparently stemmed from a verbal dispute with a customer.

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with what police are calling injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The slashing is being investigated as an assault.

No arrests have been made, but police say they are searching for a homeless man or panhandler.
