SOUTHBURY, Conn. (AP) - State police say a Connecticut man suspected of killing his father in their home has himself died in the hospital.

Police responded to the Southbury home at around 10 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a medical emergency and found 74-year-old Dennis Fitzsimmons unresponsive on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim’s son, 43-year-old Timothy Fitzsimmons, became ill as he spoke with officers and passed out. He was taken to Waterbury Hospital where he died at around 11:30 p.m.

Detectives working on the case determined that Timothy Fitzsimmons was a suspect in his father’s death.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death for the men.
