GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Richland County man is suing to block the resettlement of refugees in South Carolina.

The Greenville News reports the lawsuit (https://grnol.co/1PREaWV ) was brought by Walter Brian Bilbro who warns resettling refugees brings the potential for terrorism or violent crime.

The suit names Gov. Nikki Haley, the Department of Social Services and two nonprofits that help resettle refugees.

The governor has written Secretary of State John Kerry asking no Syrian refugees be resettled before insuring they have no ties to terror groups.

Lutheran Services Carolinas says the agency has resettled two refugees and has not been told more are coming. World Relief in Spartanburg says it has not resettled any Syrian refugees and has no plans to do so this year.

The Department of Social Services is reviewing the lawsuit.
