RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Richmond woman is facing a neglect charge after the death of a 3-year-old girl.

Richmond police announced in a news release Wednesday that 24-year-old Danielle Turner was charged with felony child neglect charges after an investigation into the death of 3-year-old Latrice Walden. Police say additional charges are pending.

Police say paramedics contacted officers on Monday to report that a child was unconscious but breathing at a Richmond home. Police say Walden died from her injuries after she was taken to a hospital.

Media outlets report that Walden’s mother, Nikki Brown, says Turner was her daughter’s godmother and was watching the girl while she delivered her second child. Brown says she can’t imagine Turner doing anything like this.

It’s unclear if Turner has an attorney.
