ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Rio Rancho man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Trevor Bianchini received a 40-month prison term Thursday in federal court in Albuquerque followed by three years of supervised release.

Bianchini was arrested last March on an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and possession of body armor by a person who had been convicted of a felony violent crime offense.

Prosecutors say Bianchini committed the offenses on May 24, 2014 in Bernalillo County.

They say he previously had been convicted of burglary of a vehicle, conspiracy to commit burglary of a vehicle and two counts of residential burglary.

Bianchini pleaded guilty in the case last August.
