MAXWELL, Iowa (AP) - Officials say schools in Collins and Maxwell were locked down after a parent made threats against staff members.

The man walked into the Maxwell school around 8:30 Wednesday morning and confronted principal Jordan Nelson, who said the man was not armed. Nelson says he thinks the man was upset by an incident on a school bus Tuesday. Nelson says the man left the school to go to the elementary school, six miles east in Collins.

The schools were locked down and remained so until the man was apprehended in Dallas County a little before noon. Authorities say he’s being held on a warrant from another state but has not been charged in the Maxwell incident.
