ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The city of St. Paul will pay $100,000 to settle a lawsuit by a man who was shocked with a stun gun in a downtown skyway.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (https://bit.ly/1VqC1VX ) the settlement amount with Chris Lollie was disclosed Thursday as part of the City Council’s agenda for next week’s meeting. It says the payment isn’t an admission of liability.
The January 2014 incident began when a bank security guard told Lollie he was sitting in a private area and had to move. Police arrived and asked him who he was. Lollie said he didn’t have to answer and that he was being targeted because he was black.
The city attorney later said that skyway area was public. All charges were dropped. An internal review cleared the officers.
