SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities in Utah are looking for a violent ex-convict they say rammed a police cruiser and nearly killed an officer.

Police say 43-year-old Christopher John McMillan has been on the run since cutting off his ankle monitor Feb. 10. Officers say he got in a car with two women Saturday but pushed them out of the vehicle when he realized police were following him.

Officers say they successfully spiked McMillan’s tires but he drove on, swerving toward a West Valley City officer, ramming a cruiser and exceeding 100 mph. Police called off the pursuit for public safety.

Authorities have a warrant for McMillan’s arrest on attempted murder charges. He was still at large Wednesday and has been identified as “Public Enemy No. 1” by Salt Lake County’s Metro Gang Unit.
