JEROME, Idaho (AP) - Jerome County authorities are investigating after a woman reported leaping from a car that plunged into a canyon.

The Times-News reports (https://bit.ly/1XAHIlm ) that police say the woman entered a Twin Falls hospital Thursday and told staff her car had gone into the Snake River Canyon. The car reportedly crashed between Pillar Falls and Shoshone Falls.

Deputies surveyed the area and found that a white car had driven over the rim of the canyon. The destroyed vehicle was hard to reach because of rough terrain and steep canyon walls.

Authorities plan to access the vehicle by boat Friday. Chief Deputy Jackson Johnson says deputies will be able to get a better look at the wreckage to try and determine the car’s owner.
