TESTIMONY: EL FARO BOILER PARTS HAD ‘DETERIORATED SEVERELY’

Director of ship management for Tote Services Inc. John Fisker-Andersen testified Friday before a U.S. Coast Guard investigative board that the boiler issues on the ship were normal wear and tear.

STAR WARS BLITZ CONTINUES AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Officials at Walt Disney World Resort said Friday that the movie-themed park will have a stormtrooper processional and a “Star Wars” stage show starting in April.

AUTHORITIES: TEEN DELIBERATELY RAN OVER DEPUTY IN FLORIDA

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that Sgt. Mary Pearce had active custody orders for the juvenile. The statement says that when confronted by Pearce on Friday morning, the juvenile fled in a vehicle, striking her.

TAMPA HIGH SCHOOL ON LOCKDOWN AFTER PROJECTILE HOLE FOUND

Tampa police said in a news release that all of the students and staff at Hillsborough High School were safe and there were no injuries from the projectile’s impact Friday. Parents have been told about the incident. It’s unclear what the projectile is. Police and school security are investigating.

PANTHER KILLED IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that the 2-year-old cat’s body was found Thursday at the Lely Resort community in Collier County. The cause of death wasn’t immediately known.
