SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego police say five adults and a juvenile have been arrested in connection to a series of violent home-invasion robberies across the city.

Captain David Nisleit says victims of the alleged crimes expressed relief at the news of Wednesday’s arrests.

Police said for the first time Thursday that one of the men in custody is suspected of sexually assaulting a victim at one of the homes.

Chief Shelley Zimmerman said the suspects escalated their violence as the crime spree continued. Detectives say the robbers wore masks and carried guns as they confronted residents and stole cash and jewelry in early morning hours at four homes.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1QpoOIC) the suspects range in age from 17 to 24.
