NORA SPRINGS, Iowa (AP) - Downtown Nora Springs will soon be home to an exotic dance club.

Globe Gazette (https://bit.ly/24esd7b ) reports that Nora Springs Planning and Zoning approved a recommendation to city council amending the zoning ordinance for Pole Barn Theater, an adult establishment that will feature exotic dancers.

The club won’t have a liquor license, but owner Dale Peterson says patrons will be allowed to bring beer and wine. Hard liquor will be prohibited.

Peterson says he wants to open the club by next Friday.

The announcement of the bar’s opening has sparked opposition among residents who don’t want the business in their community.

“We don’t need no strip club,” said Don Cook, a Nora Springs resident. “We don’t need that in Nora Springs.”

Resident Carol Albaugh expressed a similar sentiment.

“I don’t think we should allow these things in our little towns,” Albaugh said.

She added: “I think it’s going to draw some unsavory types.”

Peterson says this is the sixth juice bar he has opened, and this is not the first time his business has been met with opposition.

Three years ago, one of Peterson’s establishments, The Loft Theater in Corwith, shut down after three months for failure to pay rent.

The club will occupy a building that was previously home to the Frosty Mugs bar.
