SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say four employees of California State Prison in Folsom were injured in an inmate attack.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1mLSWGf ) that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says 32-year-old Tyrone Owens attacked two psychiatric technicians who were dispensing medication Thursday.

According to the agency’s press release, Owens pushed a medication cart into one of the technicians and hit the other in the face and head with both fists.

Authorities say three correctional officers were able to stop Owens’ attack and remove him from the area.

The psychiatric technicians and two correctional officers were taken to an outside hospital to be treated for bruises, cuts, scratches, pain and swelling. One technician had a sprained wrist.

Owens has been in prison since December 2007 and is serving a five-year sentence from Los Angeles County.
