GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) - A Green River police officer accused in the 2009 death of a 2-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty.

The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/1RTjkLr ) that Jacob R. Anglesey entered the plea on Thursday in Sweetwater County Court.

A grand jury indicted Jacob R. Anglesey on a charge of first-degree murder in the March 2009 death of Konnor Corry Allen who had been under Anglesey’s care.

An initial investigation did not lead to charges, but the case remained open with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. In 2015, DCI agents presented evidence to the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office they say shows Anglesey was inconsistent when describing how the boy was injured. Medical reports stating the injuries were caused by non-accidental trauma also were included.

Anglesey has been placed on leave from the Green River Police Department.
