KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A judge has granted the release of a Flathead High School student accused of bringing a loaded gun to school.

The Daily Inter Lake reports (https://bit.ly/1PJMev0 ) that Flathead District Judge Amy Eddy removed a $35,000 bond requirement for the 17-year-old Wednesday and ordered him released from juvenile detention.

The teen is facing five misdemeanor charges after school administrators allegedly found the gun, alcohol and drug paraphernalia in his backpack on Jan. 29.

Authorities have determined that the student didn’t intend to harm anyone with the weapon. The teen had allegedly stolen the weapon from a family member and told police he planned on selling it.

A hearing on whether the teen should be expelled from the school was delayed until he was released from custody.
