VALENCIA, Spain (AP) - Jose Morales scored one goal and set up two more as Levate beat Getafe 3-0 and provisionally rose out of last place in the Spanish league on Friday.

Levante ended a three-game losing streak, moving one points above new bottom side Granada before it hosts Valencia on Sunday.

Morales opened the scoring with an incisive run from the left flank, cutting inside past two defenders before rolling a shot into the far corner in the 10th minute at Ciutat de Valencia Stadium.

Morales set up Giuseppe Rossi to add a penalty two minutes before halftime after he was fouled by Santiago Vergini in the area.

Getafe’s Alvaro Vazquez hit the post, and Levante goalkeeper Diego Marino had several saves before Morales passed for Joan Verdu to seal the points with nine minutes left.

“We made a good start to the match because we knew what was at stake,” Morales said. “This win is a step forward.”

Getafe’s fifth consecutive loss left it in 13th place, at five points from the drop before the rest of the matches in round 25.

“They dominated us the entire match,” Vazquez said. “We need to take a long look at ourselves and figure out how to turn this around.”

On Saturday, league leader Barcelona visits Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Atletico Madrid, trailing the pacesetter by six points, hosts fourth-place Villarreal on Sunday, while third-place Real Madrid visits Malaga.
