SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 47-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of another Sioux City resident.

Court records say Elias Wanatee was charged Thursday. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press. Wanatee’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 29. He’s being held on $750,000 bail.

Police say Wanatee had been arguing with 50-year-old Vernon Mace before stabbing him six times around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Mace died later at a hospital.
