SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A San Antonio man has been charged with shining a laser at a television news helicopter.

Christopher B. Evans is charged with one count of aiming a laser pointer at aircraft in flight. If convicted, the 24-year-old Evans could receive up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The indictment alleges that a WOAI-TV news helicopter was flying north of San Antonio International Airport early the morning of Oct. 27 when it was hit by the laser strike.

Evans remains free on $20,000 bond. The Associated Press couldn’t reach him for comment as he had no listed telephone number.
