KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 37-year-old is charged with kidnapping and armed criminal action after prosecutors say he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from a suburban Kansas City convenience store and held her captive for weeks.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker says Michael Snider abducted the woman from outside a Casey’s store in Grain Valley on or about Nov. 5. A probable-cause statement says Snider took the woman on a two-hour car ride and held her in a remote location where he assaulted her, threatened to kill her and kept her locked up for days.

Baker says Snider released the woman on Nov. 20 and she drove back to Grain Valley, where she sought medical attention.

It was unclear after hours Friday if Snider had obtained an attorney. Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
