OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Police in Ozark are investigating after a dead body was found inside a burning van.

The Dothan Eagle reports (bit.ly/1KuXs7I) police and firefighters responded Wednesday to a report of a van engulfed in flames on a Dale County road. After the fire was extinguished, responders discovered the body.

Ozark police say the remains belonged to a male, but authorities have not been able to identify the victim. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences is working to determine the cause of death and make a positive identification.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are assisting with the investigation.
