BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore County police have charged the driver whose passenger was shot by an officer with narcotics-related offenses and gun violations.

Police have identified the driver as 29-year-old Timothy Dudeck of Middle River. He has been charged with possession of narcotics, intent to sell and gun violations.

The incident occurred about 2 a.m. on Thursday when police stopped Dudeck and his passenger in Essex. Police say the passenger reached for his waistband, and the officer fired his weapon.

The man was taken to a local hospital, and is expected to survive.

Department spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said Thursday a gun was found in the car.

Police say Dudeck was in possession of Oxycodone pills, cocaine and nearly $2,000 cash.
