BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A 36-year-old woman who police say fatally shot her boyfriend over an argument about his ex-girlfriend has been formally charged.

Birmingham police announced Thursday a capital murder warrant against Michelle Horn.

AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/1Q4Dj8U) that the shooting occurred Tuesday outside the couple’s apartment. Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says officials were dispatched to the scene and found 27-year-old Charles Burchfield dead on the ground near the couple’s unit.

Edwards says the shooting stemmed from an argument the couple had about Burchfield’s ex-girlfriend.

Horn has been booked at Birmingham City Jail, awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail.

It’s unclear if she has an attorney.
