BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Public Service Board has denied a permit for a proposed solar project in Bennington.

The Bennington Banner reports (https://bit.ly/1oOei7C ) the board on Tuesday denied a request to build a 2 megawatt array near the town’s Apple Hill neighborhood. The permit application was filed in June 2014.

The board found that the project would interfere with the “orderly development” of the region and have an adverse impact on aesthetics.

It would have been directly adjacent to another proposed solar project that’s still pending and under review.

The board’s decision comes after the town’s select board asked state regulators to reject both projects.
