MIDWAY, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager is dead after a stolen car he was riding in crashed during a police chase.

Midway police spokesman Christopher Daniels told the Tallahassee Democrat (https://goo.gl/nHOYHI ) that an officer tried to pull over the Toyota Thursday afternoon, but the car’s 19-year-old driver sped off as the officer was exiting his patrol car.

Police say the driver lost control a short time later, and the car’s passenger side hit a brick mailbox. The car then collided with two culvert ditches and flipped over once.

Authorities say the passenger, 18-year-old Trevor Chambers, died at the scene, and the driver was taken to a Tallahassee hospital. No charges were immediately reported against the driver.
