COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (AP) - The Latest on the kidnapping of a woman and her 14-year-old son in Cottonwood (all times local):

1:30 p.m.

Authorities say a 14-year-old boy and his mother kidnapped in Cottonwood on Friday morning have been found safe.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says both were located in the nearby town of Clarkdale and appeared in good condition.

Sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says an unknown man forced the woman into a car that was reported stolen.

Meanwhile, the teen was allegedly forced into a second car.

Deputies are still searching for both vehicles and for three suspects who are considered armed and dangerous.


11 a.m.

Yavapai County authorities are searching for a 14-year-old boy and his mother who may have been kidnapped in Cottonwood.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies say the incident happened around 6 a.m. Friday.

Deputies believe an unknown male forced a woman in her 30s into a 2016 gray Dodge Charger that was reported stolen.

They say the woman’s teenage son was kidnapped during the confrontation.

They say a silver Dodge Neon with two other men was also involved.

According to sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn, investigators are working to identify all the suspects.

D’Evelyn says the primary suspect has a shotgun and is considered dangerous.

Authorities say the Charger has a broken driver’s side window and Florida license plate BPV4583.

They believe the suspects are in the Cottonwood or Camp Verde area.
