CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A former school nurse supervisor in Mecklenburg County has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.

Multiple media outlets reported that Fathia Davis was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge Robert Conrad in Charlotte.

Conrad also ordered Davis to remain under court supervision for two years after her release from prison.

Davis’ attorney said the conviction will be appealed to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia. She was convicted last June of trying to hire two people to kill Joseph Davis.

Testimony indicates she approached a person last year about the job and the person contacted police. The person then introduced two undercover officers to Davis, who agreed to pay $4,000 to have Joseph Davis killed.
