IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An animal welfare group has filed a complaint with U.S. Department of Agriculture about an escaped research goat that remains on the loose.

KCRG-TV (https://bit.ly/20nFACT ) reports that animal welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to the University of Iowa and filed a complaint with the USDA regarding an escaped research goat that has been on the loose since Friday.

The goat escaped while being transported from a University of Iowa research park.

PETA asked that the goat be transferred to a sanctuary if it is safely captured, and the complaint claimed the goat escaped due to violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

University officials believe the goat may be near southeastern North Liberty in residential areas.
