BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of an elderly man killed in a fire at his central New Jersey home.

Somerset County prosecutors say firefighters found the body of 89-year-old Clyde Johnson shortly after they arrived at the Bridgewater Avenue residence early Sunday. He died from smoke inhalation.

Johnson apparently was alone in the home when the fire broke out. No other injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. But the blaze is not considered suspicious.

The fire destroyed a large portion of the home’s first and second floors.
