GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after Fort Peck officials say a Poplar man was stabbed to death.

The Great Falls Tribune reports (https://gftrib.com/1TyMC2n ) that Fort Peck Tribes investigator Ken Trottier says Robert Todd Pinkerton Jr. was stabbed once in the chest Monday by a woman who he was in a romantic relationship with. The woman, who has not been identified, has been taken into tribal custody.

Trottier says the stabbing took place Monday at a residence where the couple is believed to have lived together.

Pinkerton was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The Fort Peck Criminal Investigation Department and the FBI continue to investigate the incident.
