OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A former band director for Luther Public Schools has been accused of sexual misconduct involving a student.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 33-year-old Kyle Whitmus was arrested Tuesday at his home in Oklahoma City on one count of first-degree rape, one count of soliciting sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16. Authorities say the student is a preteen girl.

Whitmus was being held on $200,000 bond. Court documents do not list an attorney for him.

The OSBI says the girl’s father reported the sexual misconduct to police after another student’s mother notified him.

Whitmus was suspended when the school was notified of the allegations and he later resigned.
