CANTON, Miss. (AP) - Madison County’s prosecuting attorney has received a $28,500 raise.

The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1JVbS0t ) reports prosecuting attorney Pamela Hancock appeared before the Madison County Board of Supervisors Monday morning and asked that her salary match that of county judges. Supervisors approved Hancock’s requests unanimously and without question.

Hancock had been on the job for a month and was earning an annual salary of $92,000. She will now earn $120,500 a year.

District 1 Supervisor Sheila Jones says such a salary isn’t out of line for a full-time lawyer in that position.

District 3 Supervisor David Bishop says a pay raise is supposed to be done every couple of years and that the raise was within the law.
