PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man and woman have pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges filed after the death of their 3-month-old son.

Thirty-six-year-old Thomas Reiber and 31-year-old Melinda Giconi pleaded guilty Tuesday in Allegheny County court to three counts each of endangering the welfare of a child. Two other children were in the home when Kaleb Reiber died in May.

Giconi was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in the county jail with credit for time served since the couple’s arrest. Reiber will be evaluated for a prison program that can address his mental health and drug issues; the judge is to sentence him if he is not accepted into the program.

As part of their plea deal, neither defendant can have contact with their families or their two surviving children.
