ATLANTA (AP) - The National Weather Service says northwestern Georgia is at slight risk for severe storms.

Forecasters say a system moving eastward from Alabama on Tuesday afternoon could bring tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and heavy rain to an area northwest of a line running roughly from Rome to Dalton.

Metro Atlanta has a marginal risk for bad weather through early Wednesday, and the entire state has a chance for storms through early Thursday.

The potential bad weather is linked to a system reaching from the Gulf Coast nearly to the Great Lakes.
