TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has met with Mexican officials for the grand opening of the new Mexican Consulate offices in Tucson.

The Republican governor was joined on Tuesday by Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Claudia Ruiz-Massieu and Sonora Gov. Claudia Pavlovich for the afternoon ceremony.

Ducey says the Mexican government’s investment in the consulate will benefit the entire region.

The officials met to discuss trade and commerce between the two countries following the ceremony.

Both governors have worked together on cross-border trade, touting a strong relationship between Arizona and Sonora.
