ST. LOUIS (AP) - A pedestrian has been struck and killed on Interstate 44 in St. Louis.

Police say the crash happened early Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 44 at Kingshighway. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1RXRBdl ) reports that the victim died at the scene and has not been identified.

The crash shut down eastbound lanes of the interstate for about two hours while police investigated. The interstate was reopened around 6:30 a.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the victim was on the interstate.

This story has been corrected to show that the accident happened in St. Louis, not Kingshighway.
