NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say two police officers have been injured after a car chase in New Rochelle that briefly caused a local high school to go into lockdown.

The Journal News reports (https://lohud.us/1Pewei1 ) the incident started shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday after four people tried to hold up a business on S. Division Street.

New Rochelle Police Capt. Robert Gazzola told the newspaper that at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun and that the group led officers on a chase after fleeing from the store.

Authorities said all four suspects were apprehended after their car was hit by a police cruiser. New Rochelle High School was locked down for about 15 minutes.

Police say two officers suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
