HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Hamden police have released the identity of a man who was killed after the car he was driving crashed into a building sign and burst into flames.

Police said Tuesday the driver was 46-year-old Russell Holmes, of Hamden.

Police responded to the crash around 3:15 a.m. Saturday near Whitney Avenue and Lincoln Street.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames and Holmes was found dead inside.

A preliminary investigation determined the vehicle crossed the center lines before going off the road and colliding with a building sign.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden police.
