AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A special election will be held March 29 to fill the seat vacated by Sen. David Dutremble.

Dutremble, a Democrat from Biddeford, resigned his District 32 seat last week after announcing he was struggling with alcohol addiction.

Political parties will now begin caucusing to choose candidates for the election.

The district covers the York County towns of Alfred, Arundel, Dayton, Kennebunkport and Lyman, in addition to Biddeford.

The candidate who is elected on March 29 will serve out the remainder of Dutremble’s term, through November 2016.
